With groundbreaking about to take place for the new band shell and restrooms at Veterans Park, Tim Pinter of the City of Marco Island informed Linda Colombo, chairman of the Garden Club’s Memorial Markers committee, that the Blue Star Memorial was in the way of construction! So Colombo sprang into action . . .
Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island Workshop on Tillandsia – –
For the July workshop of Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island, Club members Linda Schwoeppe and Eve Kubinsky prepared an educational presentation and workshop materials to educate Club members about tillandsia. The workshop, held at Kubinsky’s residence, featured displays of tillandsia throughout the property.

Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island celebrated National Garden Week June 6-12. Club members shared plants with each other and made floral designs to display in public spaces in Marco Island along with a placard about National Garden Week.
Veterans’ Memorial At Marco Island Cemetery Gets A Facelift From Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island – –
Thanks to Virginia Read, a long time member of Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island, the team of Calusa Garden Club and Marco Island Cemetery Association refurbished and refreshed the plantings around the Veterans’ Memorial in Marco Island Cemetery.
Calusa Garden Club Installs New Officers – –
Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island installed its newly elected officers for the 2021-2023 Biennium. Meeting in person for only the second time since March of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Calusa Garden Club Recognized As A Blue Zones Project Organization
Pemberton welcomed Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island to the Southwest Florida Blue Zones Project, stating, “Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island is a perfect fit as a recognized Blue Zones organization because it is a “moai” – which means “a group meeting for a common purpose.”

In honor of Florida Arbor Day, Calusa Garden Club members gathered at Leigh Plummer Memorial Park to plant two native trees.
