Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island announces its annual scholarship program for seniors graduating in 2023. The Club awards one or two scholarships of $1,000 to high school seniors residing on Marco Island. The students may attend high school at any local high school.
Eligible students are those who are interested in pursuing higher education in botany, conservation, ecology, forestry, horticulture, landscape design or architecture, marine biology, city planning, public sanitation, science, education, nonprofit or law, or a related field. Scholarship applications can be obtained from Marianne Foley by Email request to jjmfoley@aol.com and are available on our Calusa Garden Club website, calusa.org. The deadline for scholarship applications is February 24, 2023.
Calusa Garden Club’s 2022 scholarship recipients were Mia Witthoff, from Lely High School, and Nick Vergo, from Marco Island Academy. The photos show Marianne Foley, Calusa Garden Club Scholarship Chairperson, who gave the award to Vergo at the 2022 MIA Awards Night and gave the award to Witthoff at Marco Island Historical Society in a ceremony with Calusa Garden Club President Susan Neustadt and Witthoff’s parents Stacy and Curt Witthoff.
Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island is a member of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs. Membership is open to persons interested in horticulture, floral design and environmental matters residing 5 months or more in Collier County.
