Charlette Roman Presents “The Magic of Tigertail” to Calusa Garden Club and Marco Island Yacht Club

On Wednesday, February 15, over 90 Marco Islanders attended an evening of education, fellowship and refreshments during a joint event for members of Calusa Garden Club and Marco Island Yacht Club.  Attendees heard and saw a presentation by Charlette Roman on “The Magic of Tigertail.” Ms. Roman, Marco Island resident and City Council member, has studied and observed wildlife in and around Marco Island for over 15 years.  Ms. Roman took the audience on a virtual tour of our local surroundings with her photographs, and shared her observations and pictures of our local ecosystem.  Our unique area’s dynamic shoal system, which includes both Tigertail Beach and Sand Dollar Island, creates the unique natural habitat of the Big Marco Pass Critical Wildlife Area.  This protected area hosts incredible birds such as the Black Skimmer and the Least Tern, among other more identifiable species such as the Great Blue Heron, and both White Pelicans and Brown Pelicans.

Calusa Garden Club meets the second Monday of each month at Wesley United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 350 S. Barfield Drive, Marco Island.  Business meetings begin at 12:30 p.m. and programs begin at 1:15 p.m.  Calusa Garden Club welcomes visitors to our programs and visitors interested in membership.  Contact the Club at calusagardenclub@aol.com, on the Club’s  website, calusa.org, or on its Facebook page, Calusa Garden Club
